Former BlackRock executive Joseph Chalom has joined the Ethereum treasury company SharpLink Gaming, Inc. as co-CEO, according to an announcement on Friday. Chalom previously served as a managing director in charge of strategic ecosystem partnerships at BlackRock, “where he led the firm’s strategy across the digital assets.”
Chalom previously forged partnerships between BlackRock and such companies including Anchorage Digital Bank, BNY Mellon, Circle, and Coinbase to drive product innovation and broader institutional adoption.
“I’m especially proud of the work we did to bring digital assets to a broader audience, pioneering the world’s fastest growing ETPs like IBIT and ETHA, advancing tokenization through BUIDL, and helping build bridges between traditional finance and digital asset networks,” Chalom said.
“Few executives in the world have had the kind of impact Joseph has had in unlocking institutional adoption of digital assets, having pioneered BlackRock’s strategic entry into the space,” Joseph Lubin, Ethereum co-founder and chairman of SharpLink said in statement. “His decision to join SharpLink is a resounding validation of our ETH treasury strategy and vision for Ethereum to drive profound, transformative change across the global digital economy.”
Sharplink is one of the largest Ethereum treasury companies, with $1.3 billion worth of holding at last count. It was recently surpassed by the Peter Theil-backed BitMine.
BlackRock manages the largest Ethereum exchange-traded fund, which crossed $10 billion in assets under management this week.
