Startale Group and Sony Block Solutions Labs have announced Startale App, a unified super-app designed as the entry point to Sony’s Ethereum Layer 2 Soneium and its ecosystem.
The app provides an access portal to future token generation events (TGE), airdrops, and rewards tied to Soneium. A number of projects on the network plan on issuing airdrops, rewards and exclusive experiences through the app, according to their press release.
The press release said Startale app uses account abstraction to remove seed phrases, enable gasless transactions, and simplify wallet management to foster activities on Soneium. It supports Mini Apps, letting developers create on the network without separate sites.
The app is currently in closed beta stage, with the official launch date yet to be disclosed.
“Startale App was designed to remove the final barrier to Web3 adoption, the fragmented user experience,” said Sota Watanabe, CEO of Startale Group. “Through our longstanding partnership with Sony and Soneium, we’ve built a platform that makes going onchain as intuitive as opening any mainstream app.”
Watanabe added that the app is interoperable with the Ethereum ecosystem, and will leverage the growing regulatory clarity in Japan for stablecoins and tokenized equities.
Japan’s Financial Services Agency recently approved the country’s first yen-pegged stablecoin project, and announced that it will support another stablecoin pilot involving Japan’s three major banks — Mizuho Bank, MUFG, and SMBC.
Meanwhile, Startale is working with local banking giant SBI Holdings to launch a regulated, round-the-clock tokenized equities trading platform.
