SoFi posts first $1 billion revenue quarter as profit reaches $174 million in Q4 amid crypto expansion

Fintech firm SoFi Technologies, one of the largest online lenders in the United States, reported its first billion-dollar revenue quarter on Friday, marking a significant inflection point in its path to sustained profitability.

The company posted GAAP net income of $173.5 million for the three months ended Dec. 31, its ninth consecutive profitable quarter.

SoFi said adjusted net revenue reached a record $1.013 billion, a 37% increase from the prior year period. Adjusted EBITDA was $317.6 million, a 60.6% year-over-year rise, representing a 31% margin, while fee-based revenue, a key diversification metric, surged 53% to a record $443.3 million.

The lender also added a record 1.027 million new members in Q4, a 35% year-over-year increase that brought its total member base to 13.7 million, according to the statement. Product additions also hit a record 1.6 million, with SoFi’s Financial Services products growing 38% to 17.5 million.

Notably, growth in SoFi Money, Relay, and Invest products accounted for 89% of total product expansion during the period as the financial services segment saw net revenue of $456.7 million, an increase of 78% from the fourth quarter of the previous year, the company said.

Crypto and blockchain initiatives advance

Alongside core financial metrics, SoFi solidified its digital asset strategy in the fourth quarter. The company became the first nationally chartered bank to launch consumer crypto trading and issue its own stablecoin, SoFiUSD, on a public blockchain in December. The stablecoin is designed for 24/7 settlement infrastructure for enterprise partners.

This followed the company’s June 2025 announcement that it would reintroduce spot crypto trading and blockchain-based remittances after halting services in 2023 due to regulatory constraints. In July 2024, CEO Anthony Noto outlined a broader crypto strategy, including developing borrowing and staking options.

Last August, SoFi partnered with Lightspark to implement blockchain-enabled international remittances using the Bitcoin Lightning Network. The service utilizes the Universal Money Address standard to convert U.S. dollars to bitcoin in real-time for cross-border routing, with final delivery in local currencies. While the service initially launched in Mexico, the firm has since expanded its blockchain-powered money movement capabilities to more than 30 countries.

Looking ahead, SoFi said it expects total membership to grow at least 30% in 2026. Management guided for adjusted net revenue of about $4.66 billion and adjusted net income of roughly $825 million for the full year.

SoFi shares rose more than 6% in pre-market trading on Friday to around $25.87, according to Yahoo Finance data
